Esther part 1

Man and Child FishingEsther 1 – 4

Lesson Aim

To understand that God saves his people.

Hook 1: Pictures

Have two pictures of a person who became a royal princess. At the time of writing it would be Kate Middleton before and after her marriage to Prince William. Compare what happened to Kate Middleton with Esther who married King Xerxes.

Hook 2: Objects

Have as many ‘royal’ objects as possible . As you tell the story have a volunteer girl at the front and  give her various beauty products to put on (check that these are non-allergenic), then dress her in royal objects e.g. a robe, crown, necklace, ring, and sit her on a throne.

Hook 3: Questions

Who has ever dreamed about being a princess? Did you have servants, robes and a special hairstyle and lots of jewels? Our story today is about a lady who became not just a princess but queen of the most powerful country in the world.

Story tips

It is not necessary to mention about Queen Vashti when telling the story of Esther.

Application

God had a role for Esther – to save his people. So God ensured that she was in the right place at the right time for his work.
