Paul at Malta

man catching fishActs 28 v 1 – 10

Lesson Aim

To understand that God protects his people

Hook 1: Snake and sticks

In this scenario act out the part of Paul.

Scatter loads of twigs and sticks around the floor. Pretend that you have just come out of the sea so you are wet and cold. Dry yourself with a towel and then send three or four children to collect up the sticks. As they are doing this attach a snake to your wrist (slot the head of the snake under an elastic band).

Hook 2: Live snake

Someone in your church might keep a live snake as a pet.  See if you get them to bring it along to help illustrate the story.  Having a live snake will make this story very memorable for the children.

Hook 3: Questions

Have you ever been bitten by an animal or stung by a bee? In today’s Bible story someone gets bitten by a poisonous animal. What happens when a poisonous animal bites you?

 Application

God wanted Paul to go to Rome, the capital of the Roman Empire, to stand before the Emperor, Caesar. All sorts of things happened to Paul on the way to Rome but God was protecting Paul and making sure that he would get to Rome where he would tell others about the Lord Jesus.
